Battlestar's "Daybreak:" The Worst Ending in the History of On-Screen Science Fiction

“If a story begins by showing us a wizard, we understand immediately that we will see wizards and magic. If a story with no magic introduces a wizard with no hint that magic was coming, the audience rightly feels cheated.”

I literally could not have said this better myself. It’s a long article, but if the ending to BSG made you as angry as it made me, it’s worth reading.

Uhhh…”no hint”? Reeeeeeally.

Right, okay.

I know not everyone was pleased with the ending, for whatever reason or another, however I, personally, absolutely loved it. I just loved it. While there could have been some things rearranged and handled a little better here and there, I wouldn’t change a thing that happened in it and I felt deeply satisfied for what happened. I didn’t feel cheated at all, it felt just right to me. This is coming from a hardcore fangirl of the series, who had watched the show religiously even through its ups and downs, and in my overall opinion is that the finale was done beautifully. It served its purpose, it was about the characters, their journeys, their relationships with each other, all of that coming together and I wouldn’t have had it any other way.

Everyone has their opinions of course, but calling it “worst ending in the history of science fiction”? Saying that there was “no hint” to the religious direction, even though it was a vital part of the mythology since the beginning? Now that is definitely stretching it, like by millions. I mean come on now people, let’s get real here.
